In this post we are touching upon the topic of the GOODNESS of MARRIAGE. Yes, we know that that the usual message that we get about marriage is that it’s hard and difficult, but just hold on, there’s more to marriage than what meets the eye.
We are also looking into the LASTING IMPACT that our marriages are having in our society in this post, so READ ON!!
We are continuing our marriage devotional blog series based upon the book, The Meaning of Marriage: A Couple’s Devotional: A Year of Daily Devotions, by Timothy and Kathy Keller. If you would like to catch up on our earlier posts, here are the links (we’ve been posting now for the past two months!!!)
Independence Vs. Intimacy
Research have shown that people who are married live a much more SATISFIED LIVES than those who are single, divorced, or living with a partner. Studies have also revealed “that most people are happy in their marriages, and most of those who are not and who don’t get divorced eventually become happy.” But marriages’s are taking a bad rap because younger adults value their independence but still want intimacy. But the actual truth is that, “marriage is good for most of the population because it was INVENTED by GOD for human well-being.”
The Legacy of A Good Marriage
“Society is better off if people make marriage and having children a priority,” this is a proven fact, but one that is being repeatedly challenged in our day and age. But even in our modern age with so many of its advances, society has still not come up with a better alternative to NURTURING “children into healthy adults other than through married, two-parent families.” The Bible’s teaching on marriage is that, it’s not just all about fulfillment of the couple, but also about bringing up the next generation of little people, so that we would have a continuation of a STABLE and THRIVING society.
We hope that this post has helped you to see Marriage in a BETTER LIGHT! Thank you for staying with us on this journey this far. We are praying for you!
