Every now and then when Tisha’s talking to the children about the influence of parents on their children, she would remind them of George Washington’s mother: “George Washington, the first president of the United States, when he grew up, he wanted to be a sailor. But, his mother was not pleased with her son’s ambitions because of the crude language that he would pick up from the other sailors, and discouraged him from doing that. So, what became of him because of that? Later on he went on to become the first president of the United States. Did he lose anything in following his mother’s wise instructions?” I am thankful for my wife, Tisha, a wonderful mother to our children and the godly influence she’s having on their lives; and I’m thankful for my mom, and Tisha’s mom for the way they brought us each up, with love, sacrifice, and commitment.
