The key to finding true FREEDOM in your marriage is actually in restricting yourself to your marriage VOWS and PROMISES. It sounds counterintuitive but it’s true! In this latest post in our ongoing series based upon the Marriage Devotional by Timothy and Kathy Keller we are writing about one of the underlying reason for the modern day decline of marriage; another topic that we are covering is of marriage’s impact on your life as a CHARACTER SHAPING TOOL.

Finding True Freedom In Your Marriage

The modern day focus of marriage for the gratification of the individual parties has led to an undue burden and strain on the marriage relationship. In previous times the essence of marriage was the marriage COVENANT, and so that served as a ‘SAFETY NET’ in times of disappointment and tension within a marriage. But now the times have changed, and men and women enter into a marriage relationship in the hopes of mutual gratification. This has put a lot of “pressure on each spouse to stay attractive and low maintenance at all times to the other partner,” and so this modern model of marriage appears to be leading to its own downfall.

Marriage: A Character Shaping Tool

In a marriage both the spouses have many opportunities for voluntary self-sacrifice. Each day brings more and more occasions for you to extend grace to your spouse in situations where you might be tempted to be irritable and arrogant. This is another way in which marriage is uniquely character forming, it has the ‘POWER TO CHANGE’ you for the better, but only if you are bold enough to go against your natural inclinations of self-preservation. Marriage is thus a wonderful tool in God’s hands to shape you to be more like the Lord Jesus Christ.

You might be wondering why we are giving a lot of emphasis on marriage, considering the fact that we are photographers. Well, the real reason for that is our mission statement, we have established our photography business to impact, encourage, and strengthen marriages, and that shapes everything that we do around here. We hope that this post was helpful to that end!! We are praying for you all.
